We are pleased to announce that our Open Tournament on 06 July is being sponsored by Shepton Mallet Motors who are Honda main dealers. The Honda dealers have proved to be a wholehearted and generous sponsor by providing a car for the first competitor on the day to achieve a hole in one on the par 3 10th. This is a truly groundbreaking gesture by Shepton Mallet Motors as, until this year, amateurs were not allowed to win prizes of this value.
The car being provided is a Honda Jazz with an n the Road value of £14,450. This prize will create interest well beyond Wells Golf Club and there will be a real buzz on the course for an amateur to win a prize of this value.
See OPENS page for entry form. Mens, Ladies and Mixed teams welcome
You have to be in it to win it!
The Cyder Cup is entering its fourth year and its appeal continues to strengthen year upon year. Two of the prominent clubs in the Wells area, Wells Golf Club and Farrington Golf & Country Club, joined forces and have built the Cyder Cup to the success it is now enjoying.
The 4BBB format is played over both courses on consecutive days and there are attractive prize lists for each day and overall aggregate and in each instance there is a full visitors’ prize list. This year the Cyder Cup will take place on August 19th and 20th.
Please contact Wells Golf Club for further details or download an entry form from our Opens page on this website.
2012 Winners - William McKay and Grant Rogers
After winter hibernation and a cosmetic makeover, Betty the Swan has been given a permanent position as the mascot of Wells Golf Club. She now looks serene in front of the clubhouse overlooking the golf course. Club President Raymond Smith is pictured thanking some of the Thursday Group for donating her to the Club.
South West Schools Championship hosted at Wells (May 26th & 27th)
We have just arrived home where both my daughters played for Hampshire in the SW Schools Championship.
Please could you pass on our thanks to the members of your club for allowing us to play your course and to your greenstaff. The course was in excellent condition.
I would also like you to know how fantastic Shaun and your catering staff were; from the moment we arrived yesterday at lunchtime, the evening meal, the early start for breakfast (0630am), lunch and evening meal today nothing was too much trouble. We all felt very welcome. The food was excellent!
Well done to you all at Wells GC - perfect
Just a brief thank you for hosting our society event on Thursday (May 23). In spite of the heavy rain showers and cold winds we all enjoyed our day and the course, which few of us had ever played. Please pass on to the catering staff that the guys also all enjoyed the evening meal.
I’m sure we will come again in future years, hoping for better weather.
